“THEY DIED… SO YOU COULD LIVE RIGHT”
“THEY DIED… SO YOU COULD LIVE RIGHT”
Folks, let me talk to you for a minute.
We’re living in a generation that’s forgotten what sacrifice looks like. We’ve traded sanctuaries for stadiums, altars for algorithms, and blood for blessings we don’t even say grace over anymore.
But let me remind you—freedom ain’t free.
This Memorial Day, while folks are lighting fireworks and flipping burgers, I came to light a fire in your spirit and flip the tables in your soul! Because before you lift another fork, you better bow your head and remember:
Somebody died so you could live.
✝️ THEY FELL ON EARTHLY BATTLEFIELDS…
We remember the soldiers—the brave men and women who didn’t come home. The ones who marched through mud and mortar, not for medals, but for mission. They bled in silence so you could shout in liberty. They laid down their lives while we lay down on couches.
And I thank God for every single one of them. I thank God for the folded flags, the weeping mothers, the empty boots lined up at memorials—because they understood something this nation has forgotten:
You don’t get freedom without a fight.
But oh, saints… that’s not the only memorial I’m thinking about.
🔥 …BUT HE FELL ON A HILL CALLED CALVARY
Because long before a soldier took a bullet—
My Savior took the cross.
“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…”
— Isaiah 53:5
Don’t you forget it—Jesus Christ didn’t just die for a country. He died for a kingdom. And while they shed blood for borders, He shed blood for souls. They gave us a free nation, but He gave us eternal salvation.
You better not shout “America the Beautiful” without weeping for “The Lamb That Was Slain.” Because some of us wave flags on Monday, but haven’t lifted holy hands in years. Some of us honor fallen heroes, but we’ve neglected the risen King.
And I came to call you back.
💔 TO THE ONES WHO STILL HEAR SILENCE AT THE TABLE
Let me pause right here—
Because while some are celebrating with cookouts, you’re grieving with quiet chairs and folded flags.
You didn’t just lose a soldier.
You lost a son. A daughter. A spouse. A brother. A friend.
And I want you to know—God sees you.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
The world may move on, but He has not forgotten your pain.
The grave may have closed, but His arms have not.
Ya'll , hear me—God weeps with you.
And the same Jesus who stood outside Lazarus’ tomb and cried…
He’s standing beside your sorrow, too.
You may not understand the “why,” but you can trust the Who—the One who holds every tear, counts every heartbeat, and has not lost a single soul to the grave who died in Him.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
— Psalm 116:15
Let your comfort be this:
If they knew the Lord, they’re not lost—they’re home.
And if you don’t yet know Him, the best way to honor them is to meet Jesus for yourself.
Because there’s no reunion like the one waiting on the other side of glory.
🕊️ REMEMBER THE DEAD. LIVE LIKE YOU’VE BEEN BOUGHT.
Don’t you dare waste what they died for. Don’t waste a soldier’s sacrifice on sin. And don’t waste the blood of Jesus on a lukewarm life.
You ought to live like you’ve been bought with a price.
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice…”
— Romans 12:1
This Memorial Day, let’s do more than remember.
Let’s return. Let’s repent. Let’s rise.
Because if you really understand the cost of freedom—
you won’t just celebrate it. You’ll walk worthy of it.
